Into the Blue talks partially about belief, reinvigoration and embracing uncertainty and I suppose Somewhere New is a personal contribution to that.
Somewhere New is a piece I wrote almost as a reminder to myself. A breath take on the album. To be present. In the moment. To be. To move yes but not chase. 'Enjoy the ride' as Bill Hicks and many others of course have said. Not that I was in a pit. It's just we need regular nudges to do this don't we?!
To embrace the uncertain and inevitable uncontrollable external elements of life and put power back with me. To always have the courage to step out in the storm, in fact RELISH in it! And trust in the self instead. Growing is constant new isn't it? And so lack of comfort is part of it. People talk about 'optimal stress' a lot now. And as long as you aim towards your desires then expect it, to the point where you enjoy it and dance with it even! (will continue to work on that forever more I'm sure but that's fine ha ha!)
I remember going over and over this song. Performing and performing on a rainy studio day in Utah with nobody else there. Becoming entranced. Building it word by word. Swirling in the big reverb. It started to feel like a chant of sorts. Then pressing record and it was done. I love capturing moments through recording, even if it is rough. One take wonders. There.Gone.There.Gone. Which is also why I love playing live with these two fookeds of course! ;)
Wherever you go there you are! Wherever they go tell em to turn it UUUUUUUP!

Are we spinning the spiral?
The skelter's a shelter, let it be your friend
I slept as your silhouette wept stars, asked
Is there a road if there is no end?
Somewhere new
If in my life I don't find you
Make me step out in the rain
The bee is busy but I can't be
And now it's clear I can't escape me
I'll take the gift, oh, in tomorrow's tеars
The only forever was now
Somеwhere new
If in my life I can't find you
Let me dance in the storm again
