We are super excited to have sensational post-punk band Tres Leches join us on a whole bunch of dates throughout September. Yippeeee!!!
Hailing from Seattle (which is coincidentally one of our favourite stops to buy vintage clothing.) the band certainly has a rich heritage of local musicians to draw influence from. There's also some great landscape around there, which gave Seattle it's nickname Emerald City.
This March, Tres Leches released a BRAND NEW album entitled Fósil. Now. Sharp-eyed linguaphiles out there will have immediately realised fósil is the spanish word for fossil. After listening to every single track I can confirm that there is no mention of Jurassic Park or anything that alludes to a past geologic age that has been preserved in Earth's crust. In hindsight, I'm not great at Spanish so I can't comment on those bits.
What I can tell you is that the subject matter contained within the song Two Fifty higlights a subject close to every musicians heart. Namely, the devaluation of their art and how a variety of people would prefer not to pay for the services of musicians and even gouge them for 20% of merch sales. No band can survive on 'exposure' alone. What is this exposure anyway??? In my opinion exposure is something you can die from or at least be arrested for, so I attempt to avoid it at all costs. In conclusion GO BUY SOMETHING DIRECTLY FROM THE ARTIST.
