Big welcome to anyone who found us via The Twilight Saga soundtrack where we featured our track Endtapes back in 2011.
Since Breaking Dawn is about to celebrate it's 10th Anniversary & we've never shared anything about the song before, we thought we'd bite into here. (Shall we see how many puns this post can handle ha!)
Endtapes was probably one of the earliest TJF tracks, demoed alongside Austere in around 2010. Rhydian and I had not long moved back to North Wales & we'd set up a little studio space in Mold. We were together every day, growing our sounds with the little gear we had, finding our voices & seeing how they meshed together. We started getting excited about these layers of guitars that were weaved together to create ambiences & string-like effects. The ethereal meeting with Rhydian's rumbling bass line & single note guitars is where Endtapes was musically born.
Lyrically, it's all about not having closure. Trying to fix something that doesn't need to be fixed, better to accept and move away. I had a quick shifty online & a lot of the lyrics up there are guessed I think, so a few mistakes.
Here's a more up to date version for you to sink your teeth into
😂
Sitting pretty, up tightly
The knots keep you at my side
Upstairs, in corners
eyes blink for the crawl
up and out, my beacon
will choke if yours is taken
I dare four more lines.
Hover thought, mosquito
bite down
My fickle hand machine
Surprises meant for me
up and out, my beacon
will choke if yours is taken
I dare four more lines.
In this broken way, sorry on repeat just fails always
Sellotape an end to a story that is hanging over
silence always waking
Swells with every teardrop
Pulls my threads to kid gloves
Sellotape an end to this
Thieves, years, leaves, knots
Bleeds burst
Keeps apart
You're such an honest fool
