The lotus flower has been a symbol of various cultures throughout history, and it continues to hold a special place in many societies today. This beautiful flower is not just admired for its aesthetic appeal, but also for its symbolic meaning. The lotus flower is often associated with spiritual enlightenment, purity, and rebirth. One of the reasons for the symbolic nature of the lotus flower is its unique ability to grow in muddy and murky water. Despite growing in such conditions, the lotus flower emerges from the water clean and untouched. This ability to bloom so beautifully in such an unfavorable environment represents the idea of rising above adversity and finding beauty in the midst of chaos.

The lotus flower also has deep ties to various spiritual and religious traditions, particularly in Asia. In Hinduism, the lotus flower is associated with creation and the divine. The god Vishnu is said to have arisen from a lotus flower, and the flower itself is seen as a symbol of spiritual purity and detachment from worldly desires.

Similarly, in Buddhism, the lotus flower is a symbol of the path to enlightenment. The flower's ability to grow and bloom in murky waters represents the Buddhist concept of rising above the suffering and confusion of the world to achieve a state of inner peace and clarity.

In Chinese culture, the lotus flower is also a symbol of purity and spiritual enlightenment. It is often depicted in art alongside other symbols of enlightenment, such as the Buddha and the dragon.

Beyond its spiritual and cultural significance, the lotus flower is also admired for its aesthetic beauty. Its delicate petals and bright colors have been widely depicted in art and design throughout history.

The original 'Dance of the Lotus' track essentially introduced our album AAARTH. Looking back it felt like a particular 'turning a corner' period, so this emerging symbolism seems to fit. Or at least it was a reminder to stay true to the authentic footing and allow for growth. Also...though some corners are bigger than others.... we are always turning some kind of corner, right? So it was fun to revisit, remix and tinker with this again. To see what else emerged.

What corner are you turning today?
