Last week we dug deep into the TJF vault and found an emotive rendition of The Everchanging Spectrum of a Lie, which we shared with you on Saturday. Today we present you Austere from the very same Sarm Sessions. :-)
When we shared The Everchanging Spectrum of a Lie last Saturday, the response we had from the online community was incredibly heartwarming and quite unexpected. We read lots of comments from people who watched the video and re-lived the first moment they heard The Big Roar. For many people the album is linked to a special place, person or period in their lives. Some people even went as far to say the album changed their whole perspective on music. We still haven’t decided if that was a good or bad thing, but thought it might be worth mentioning.
Before we go any further, allow us to explain why we’ve been furiously digging around in the festering TJF vaults like a maniacal family of over-excited truffle pigs. Ehem. Well. In case you missed our last few posts or lost track of time completely (like us), we're celebrating TEN whole earth years of The Big Roar. That means TEN whole years of the version of Austere from that album. I know. It's hard to believe, but here we are in 2022. According to our semi-reliable sources, The Big Roar was released five years prior to the final incarnation of the much beloved Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte. Crazy, right?
We have lots of happy memories from both recording and touring The Big Roar and for us, the Sarm Sessions were a wonderful opportunity to show off the full dynamic of our live performances and let rip in a top notch studio environment. We can guarantee that every single instrument (and mistake) was recorded with a multitude of microphones using the highest quality equipment. If you look very carefully you can even spot our guest backing singer Mr. Froggy McFrogFace.
If ten years on you can’t get enough of The Big Roar and indeed Austere, then how about you join us on the 21st of May for a very special online show. It’s an exclusive performance that members of the TJF Music Club can access at no extra cost provided they have a current subscription.
